Motorcyclist shot in west Modesto
A man was shot in the foot Monday afternoon when a dispute with a former friend escalated to gunfire in west Modesto.
The injured man, who went on his own to a Modesto hospital, was expected to survive, said Stanislaus County sheriff’s Lt. Charles Grom.
The shooting occurred about 1:20 p.m. near Alcamo Avenue and Houser Lane, a few blocks north of Paradise Road. Shots reportedly were fired from a Ford Mustang at a man driving a motorcycle.
The motorcyclist told investigators he didn’t want to be involved anymore in the dispute with his former friend, so he drove away. As he was leaving in the motorcycle, he felt a bullet hit his foot.
Grom said investigators had a lead on who fired the gun, but they didn’t want to release the man’s name just yet. He said the preliminary investigation was still underway, and an arrest could be made Monday evening.
