Arrests drop in Stanislaus County DUI enforcement
A campaign designed to pull drunken drivers off the road Memorial Day weekend as of Monday afternoon had resulted in 19 arrests of people suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Avoid the 12 campaign, which is funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety, is a reference to all 12 law enforcement agencies in the county who work together in this enforcement effort.
Last year, there were 31 arrests during same the three days, according to Ceres police. The department coordinates the campaign year-round.
The enforcement continues tonight with saturation patrols in Modesto, Ceres and Turlock. Ceres police expects to release a final tally of arrests on Tuesday.
