Body found in Escalon canal

San Joaquin County sheriff’s investigators are looking into the discovery of a body in a canal near Escalon, authorities said.

According to a news release, officials were called to a canal at South Henry Road and River Road at 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

“Patrol officers arrived at the location did confirm that it was indeed a human body,” the sheriff’s department said in a news release. “Detectives are currently investigating whether foul play was involved.”

Authorities did not release any information about the identity or gender of the body, citing a need to notify family members.
