Ripon man gets 14 years for meth trafficking
A Ripon man, 27-year-old Jamie Rangel, was sentenced in Sacramento on Friday to 14 years in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. On May 1, Rangel’s co-defendant, 23-year-old Ripon resident Daniel Covarrubias, was sentenced to eight years and five months in prison.
According to court documents, Rangel and Covarrubias were members of a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy in Ripon. Over the course of two months, undercover agents purchased about 1.39 kilograms of methamphetamine from them. Rangel and Covarrubias were arrested in Modesto at the conclusion of the operation.
This case was the product of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; the Ripon Police Department; the Stockton Police Department; and the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Office.
