Vandalism report leads to recovery of stolen gun
Modesto police responding to a vandalism call at 1101 McHenry Avenue on Wednesday night recovered a stolen handgun from the suspect.
Store employees reported at about 10 p.m. a man vandalizing a store display. Officers arrived to find 34-year-old William Dillon, who was on searchable probation, said Lt. Brandon Gillespie. In his backpack, the found ammunition and a loaded handgun. They contacted the weapon’s owner, who said it had been stolen earlier Wednesday.
Dillon was arrested on probation violation and suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
Gillespie did not have a place of residence for Dillon or information on the nature of the vandalism.
