Shooting in Modesto breaks man’s leg

A 23-year-old man had his leg broken by a gunshot wound Monday night off Paradise Road in southwest Modesto.

The drive-by shooting was called in about 9:55 p.m. The man was walking on the 600 block of Wade Avenue, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves, “when he heard someone yell at him. He started to turn, heard a gunshot and fell to the ground. He said he knew he’d been hit.”

The victim was taken to a hospital, she said, and his injuries were not life-threatening. He provided no suspect or vehicle information, Graves said.
