Argument over cigarettes, car keys ends in arrest near Sonora
An argument over missing cigarettes and car keys turned violent, leading to the arrest of one of the women on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said. According to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the Sonora Regional Medical Center at 6 a.m. Tuesday.
According to a news release, the victim, a 44-year-old woman, had cuts to both her hands and her abdomen. She told deputies she had been stabbed by Bobbi Ann Burkes, 58, whom she described as an aquiantence, at a home in the 19000 block of Serrano Road.
Detectives tracked down the suspect and arrested her. Burkes, of East Sonora, was booked into Tuolumne County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and battery. Bail was set at $50,000.
