Escalon man suspected of burglarizing Twain Harte homes before he was caught
Tuolumne County sheriff's officials arrested an Escalon man suspected of burglarizing homes and stacking stolen items outside before he was caught.
Bret Lee Snider, 49, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of burglary and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail.
On Saturday evening, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a possible burglary in progress at a home in the 18000 block of Mother Lode Drive, just west of Joaquin Gully Road in Twain Harte.
The deputies learned that the home's owner arrived and found on his property a man, who was later identified as Snider.
Snider told the homeowner he was waiting for a ride from a friend, according to sheriff's officials. Before he walked away from the home, the owner photographed Snider.
The deputies later learned that two other homes on the same street also were burglarized.
Sheriff's officials said it appeared the homeowner had interrupted Snider during the burglary, since deputies found stolen items stacked outside each of the burglarized homes.
The following morning, the deputies found Snider near a 7-11 convenience store on Joaquin Gully Road in Twain Harte, a few blocks south of the burglarized homes. The deputies then took Snider into custody.
Snider also was wanted by authorities for arrest warrants on suspicion of grand theft, smuggling drugs into a jail and driving with a suspended driver's license.
