A 33-year-old Oakdale woman was arrested in Tuolumne County early Saturday on charges including identity theft and grand theft. Deputies continue to seek a male accomplice.

Sheriff's deputies patrolling in Jamestown on Friday night spotted a 2006 silver Chrysler 300 that matched the description of a car used in crimes in the county. The driver, later identified as Janitta Garcia, got out and went into the Chicken Ranch Casino.

Deputies recognized her and the car from surveillance video collected at theft scenes in Sonora, Cold Springs and Oakdale. The credit card used in the thefts was stolen in a home burglary in Strawberry, the Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Casino security staff told the deputies Garcia left the Chicken Ranch through the rear and was picked up by another vehicle. "When she saw deputies, she went out the back door with a few other people and hitched a ride to Black Oak Casino," said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Benson.

Garcia was found and arrested a short time later at the Black Oak in Tuolumne, about 15 miles away. She was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail on charges of conspiracy, burglary, identity theft, and grand theft. Bail was set at $50,000.

Garcia is the registered owner of the Chrysler and can be seen on surveillance at at least one of the businesses the credit card was used. The man being sought racked up over $2,000 on the credit card at several locations in Sonora and Oakdale, the Sheriff's Office says.

Anyone who recognizes the man or has any information regarding the crimes is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 209-533-5815.
