Ceres police arrest suspect in housing complex shooting
Investigators have arrested a Turlock man accused of attempted murder and robbery in connection with a shooting last week at a housing complex near Sinclear Elementary School in Ceres.
Satprit Singh, 33, on Wednesday remained in custody at the Stanislaus County Jail. His bail was set at $510,000, and he is scheduled to return to court Thursday for a pretrial hearing.
The shooting was first reported at 9:19 a.m. on Jan. 23 at the complex in the 3800 block of Lexar Drive, just west of the Tranquil Lane and Morgan Road intersection.
A man suffered a gunshot wound to his upper right leg and lost a significant amount of blood, said Ceres police Lt. James Yandell. The first officers to arrive at the scene found the injured man and applied a tourniquet to help stop the bleeding.
Yandell said investigators believe the shooting occurred in the complex's parking lot. Investigators found the injured man near the front door of one of the homes.
The injured man was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and survived his injuries.

Police said detectives identified Singh as the suspected shooter. The detectives, along with the department's SWAT team, served a search warrant at Singh's home hours after the shooting. Authorities took Singh into custody without incident, police announced in a news release posted on its Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators at the shooting scene believed two suspects were involved in the shooting. Investigators canvassed the neighborhood and questioned witnesses, but they did not find any suspects until they found Singh later that day.
