Teenager in stable condition after drive-by shooting in Patterson
A 17-year-old was in stable condition Saturday morning after he was shot in Patterson in what authorities are calling a gang-related incident.
At about 3:15 p.m. on Friday, deputies were called to the 500 block of Second Street – Highway 33 – on a report of a person shot, according to Deputy Royjindar Singh of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
When they arrived, they found the teenager, who was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
There were varying descriptions of a possible vehicle involved, but as of Saturday morning, there was nobody in custody.
Describing it as a drive-by shooting, detectives, who have been following up on leads and talking to witnesses, believe the teenager was targeted because he was from a rival gang.
The shutdown of the roadway causes delays on Highway 33 between Sperry and Las Palmas avenues.
