Police looking for gunmen who robbed Ripon gas station

Police investigators on Wednesday morning were asking the public to help identify two men who robbed a gas station at gunpoint Tuesday night.

The armed robbery occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the Angle Petroleum gas station at 341 East Main St., just east of Highway 99 in Ripon.

The robbery suspects left the area before officers arrived at the gas station, according to a Ripon Police Department news release. The officers recovered evidence from the store, including video footage of the armed robbers from a security camera.

Ripon Police Chief Ed Ormonde said both robbers brandished a gun during the holdup. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported.

A store clerk and a customer were inside the business when the robbery occurred. Ormonde said the robbers got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and some cigars stolen from the store.

Department investigators were in the process of collecting additional video footage from other cameras in the surrounding area. "Hopefully, we'll learn some more information," Ormonde said.

Police officials described the robbers as two men in their early 20s. The robber wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and black pants stood about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. The other wore a black-hooded-sweatshirt and light-colored pants and stood about 6 feet tall.
