Police arrested a 45-year-old woman on a number of charges after she allegedly tried to run down a man crossing a street. The car she was driving, police said, was stolen.

Christina Gonazlez was booked into Stanislaus County Hail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and possession of stolen property, Turlock police spokeswoman Mayra Lewis said. The incident occurred at 10:49 p.m. Monday.

According to police, Gonzalez was driving along the 3800 block of Crowell Road when she swerved the car toward a man crossing the street. The car didn’t hit the man, Lewis said. It wasn’t clear what, if anything, provoked the attack, nor if Gonzalez knew the victim.

“We can’t tell that they had any relationship,” Lewis said.

The vehicle had been reported stolen in San Jose.
