All week pair went to Macy's to steal cologne. They were caught on Black Friday.

A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $1,000 worth of cologne from Macy’s in Vintage Fair Mall early Friday morning, two days after they were caught doing the same thing.

The pair put 12 bottles of Acqua Di Gio, totalling $1,062, in a TJ Maxx bag and left the store, said Modesto Police Sgt. Mark Phillips.

They were quickly detained by a loss prevention officer, who called Modesto police.

One suspect told police they stole the same type of cologne on Monday and Tuesday and were caught in the process of stealing cologne on Wednesday. When confronted by an employee on Wednesday who threatened to call police, the suspects took the cologne out of the TJ Maxx bag, put it back on the shelf and left.

But they returned Friday and this time didn’t make it out of the mall.

Ricky Santos Agundez, 36, and Taylor Renee Mercado, 21, were both arrested on suspicion of grand theft, conspiracy and probation violation.
