At least three people remained at large Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, after a chase the night before, which led to two arrests and recovery of ammunition and marijuana from a vehicle in Modesto.

At least three people sought by Modesto police in the area of Franklin Elementary School late Sunday remained at large Monday morning. Two others — an adult and a minor — were detained and eventually released when ammunition and marijuana were found in the vehicle they fled, police report.

The incident began when an officer tried to pull over a vehicle at Maze Boulevard and Emerald Avenue at about 4 p.m. The driver led the officer on a pursuit, and when the vehicle stopped, those inside fled on foot.

Two quickly were caught, and a search perimeter was set up for the others. SWAT and K-9 units were deployed, but the perimeter was broken down about midnight when those sought weren't located, said police Lt. Martha Delgado.

Officers found in the trunk of the vehicle a backpack containing ammunition, a loaded ammunition magazine and marijuana, Delgado said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Modesto police at 209-572-9500 or Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 209-521-4636. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
