Ceres man arrested 15 years after alleged child molestation

A Ceres man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of molesting a 10-year-old girl 15 years ago.

The victim, now 25, came forward on Oct. 21, according to Ceres Police. The alleged abuse occurred in the 2400 block of Joy Avenue and the 1100 block of Edith Court.

During their investigation, detectives developed information to substantiate the allegations. Detectives would not say what that information is or how the victim and the suspect knew each other.

On Wednesday they arrested the suspect, 42-year-old Antonio Alejandro Lemus, near Central Avenue while he was on his way to work.

Lemus has been charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child and is being held at the Stanislaus County Jail on $1 million bail.
