He tried to steal a car in northeast Modesto but got punched in the face, Tased

A man who allegedly attempted to carjack a vehicle in east Modesto Tuesday evening was punched in the face by the victim, then later Tased by police.

The suspect approached the male victim as he was getting in his vehicle near the intersection of Laramie Drive and Lakewood Avenue and asked him for a ride, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves.

When the man got into his vehicle the suspect tried to open his door and yelled at him to get out.

Graves said the victim then punched the suspect through a partially opened window and the suspect walked away.

Officers responding to the scene found the suspect nearby. He refused to comply with officers’ orders and was subsequently Tased, Graves said.

Timothy Lynn Dodd, 41, was arrested on suspicion of attempted carjacking and resisting arrest.
