Detectives investigating shooting death of man found in Turlock neighborhood
Detectives on Monday were investigating the shooting death of a man found late Sunday in a residential neighborhood just west of Lander Avenue.
The shooting was reported about 11:50 p.m. Sunday, according to Turlock police Lt. James Silveira. Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of Angelus Street in Turlock.
The officers arrived at the scene and spotted a middle-aged man on the ground in an alley. Silveira said the man had an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. Turlock police had not released the victim's name. Silveira said authorities on Monday were still trying to identify the shooting victim and notify his family.
He said there are limited details in the shooting investigation, and detectives were questioning witnesses and gathering evidence.
