Burglary suspect put on a mask — just a little too late

Note to criminals: There are no do-overs when it comes to putting on a mask. Victims, witnesses and police won't unsee what they've seen.

Case in point, the Manteca Police Department posted on Facebook images taken from a residential burglary that occurred on the 1900 block of Sparrowhawk Street.

The night of Oct. 18, a man was caught on a surveillance video camera ringing the doorbell and then leaving when no one answered. He returned a minute later wearing a full face mask and rang again.

Too late, though — the pre-mask image provides a clear look at his face. The hooded jacket he's wearing appears to say "Harley-Davidson Motorcycles" on it.

The man then entered the house through a back door and stole several items, police say.

Anyone with information on this suspect is urged to call the Manteca Police Department at 209-456-8101. Reference case 2017-37418.
