Arguing in alley as his young kids cry, father faces endangerment charges
A Modesto man faces charges of child endangerment after police responded to a report of an argument in an alleyway and sounds of children crying.
About 8 p.m. Saturday, officers found Sergio Amador Fernandez, 30, arguing with another man on the 1200 block of Edgebrook Drive just south of Thousand Oaks Park.
Fernandez's three children, ages 9, 7 and 5, were there, said Modesto Police Department spokeswoman Heather Graves, and according to the incident report, the men were heavily intoxicated and unable to take care of themselves, let alone children.
Fernandez and the other man were taken into custody, though the other man does not face endangerment charges, Graves said.
The children were left with another family member, she said.
Fernandez remained in custody Monday afternoon, with bail set at $50,000.
