Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies, probation officers and Modesto police officers searched two locations Tuesday for the suspect in a March 19 homicide.

The county authorities first looked for 30-year-old Adam Goodman, also known as “Chubs,” at a residence in the 600 block of South Seventh Street. The location is the site of a mobile home park, where Goodman is suspected of fatally stabbing 37-year-old Stanley Schmidt.

Goodman was not found at the location, but authorities did arrest three or four people there on outstanding warrants, said sheriff’s Detective Jon McQueary.

Modesto police joined the second search, at The Redwoods Apartments in the 2000 block of Yosemite Boulevard. Goodman was not there, either, said McQueary, who noted that residents there were cooperative, although one woman was arrested on a warrant.

The Crime Stoppers program is offering a reward of $1,000 for information leading to Goodman’s arrest, McQueary said.

The suspect is described as white, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 194 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Goodman has tattoos over his left eye and on his chin and neck.

Authorities said Goodman should be considered armed and dangerous; they ask anyone who sees him to call 911 immediately.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the case to contact Detective Gregory Buck at (209) 525-7103.
