A man suspected of stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend has been identified as a 25-year-old Winton man, the Police Apartment reported.

A warrant has been issued for Jorge Daniel Vera, charging him with murder in connection with the death Sunday of a 28-year-old man, Livingston Police Lt. Chris Soria said.

Police said the victim, whose name has not been released, was stabbed four times, including three times in the back, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday outside a home in the 1400 block of Eighth Street in Livingston.

The suspects came to the house and one of the men got out of the truck and started fighting with the victim. A resident at the house convinced the suspect to leave, but the men returned about 10 minutes later, and both attacked the victim, police said in a news release.

“This appears to be a jealousy issue. His ex-girlfriend was dating a new person and he got jealous and it ended up in an altercation that resulted in a stabbing,” Soria told the Sun-Star.

The victim was taken to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock, where he was pronounced dead.

Police on Monday searched Vera’s home on Central Avenue in Winton, but did not locate or any weapons that may have been used in the attack.

Vera is described by authorities as about 5 foot, 6 inches tall, weighing about 172 pounds.

Investigators are following up leads and trying to identify the suspects. They ask anyone with information on the incident to contact Fong at (209) 394-7916 or the department’s confidential tip line at (209) 394-3640.
