Oakdale police arrest Salida man on sexual assault charges
Oakdale Police on Thursday arrested a 40-year-old Salida man on charges of sexually assaulting a juvenile.
Christopher Michael Munson, a registered sex offender, was arrested at his home Thursday morning, authorities said in a news release. The incident occurred in Oakdale in August and involved a child under the age of 14, police said.
SWAT members from the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department helped in serving the search and arrest warrant. Munson tried to run and was caught by a K-9 team, police said in the release.
He was found to be in possession of a gun. Authorities did not release details of what happened, but said Munson was known to the victim and the victim’s family prior to the assault.
Investigators have no reports of additional victims, but ask anyone with information on the case to call officer Dan Taylor, 209-652-2382.
