Teenager to survive injuries after being shot in west Modesto

A 19-year-old man suffered nonlife-threatening injuries after he was shot in the abdomen in west Modesto on Wednesday night.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the area of Pelton and Colorado avenues at about 7:30 p.m. on reports of a man down in the street.

When they arrived, they found the teenager with a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby hospital.

The victim said the shooting apparently occurred in an alley nearby, and deputies searched the area, but could not find the crime scene, according to Sgt. Anthony Bejaran, spokesman for the department.

There was no immediate suspect information, Bejaran said.
