Bloody hands lead to arrest of Turlock couple in Jamestown

A Turlock couple was arrested at the Chicken Ranch Casino in Jamestown Tuesday morning after a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Deputy found the man sitting in a car with blood dripping from his hand.

The deputy approached the car an and found the man holding a hypodermic needle full of dark liquid.

When the deputy announced himself, the driver attempted to hide the needle and started his vehicle but the deputy opened the door and saw a woman in the back seat who also had blood on her hands.

The man and woman were identified as Joseph Lewis, 26, and Cara Hallam, 25, both of Turlock. The deputy ran their names and found Lewis is on probation out of Stanislaus County for a narcotics related offense.

The deputy searched the car and found 10 used hypodermic needles, a package of unused hypodermic needles, a container with a small amount of black tar substance wrapped in plastic, a bent spoon with a cotton ball and a red explosive device that appeared to be an M-80 type explosive.

Hallam and Lewis were booked into the Tuolumne County Jail on suspicion of possessing a destructive device, possessing a controlled substance and possessing drug paraphernalia.
