Stanislaus fair books country star McBride
Country music superstar Martina McBride, with 20 top-10 hits, including six No. 1’s, to her name, will perform this summer at the Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock.
“Martina McBride has one of the most recognizable voices in the country music industry,” fair spokeswoman Adrenna Alkhas said in a news release Thursday. “To have a legend like Martina performing at the fair is very thrilling and something everyone will be looking forward to.”
Her hits include “Independence Day,” “Wild Angels,” “Valentine” and “When God-Fearin’ Women Get the Blues.”
The release of her latest album, “Everlasting,” comes during a time of numerous career highlights. McBride will join Country Music Hall of Fame member George Strait on his farewell tour in the spring and her first book, published by Harper Collins, came out in October. Titled “Around the Table: Recipes and Inspiration for Gatherings Throughout the Year,” the 320-page book includes McBride family traditions, recipes and menu ideas and is “chock-full of personal anecdotes and memories.”
McBride will perform July 14 at 8:30 p.m. on the Bud Light Variety Free Stage. The concert will be hosted by KATM-FM 103.3 and is free with the price of fair admission.
The Stanislaus County Fair opens July 10 for a 10-day run. Discounted fair admission tickets, unlimited-ride wristbands and the fair season pass will be on sale beginning May 2.
