YESTERYEARS
40 YEARS AGO: The directors of the Turlock Irrigation District, for a fourth time in 1974-75, voted to hike electricity and water rates. Board members said the increase would help to improve the district’s financial condition and enable it to market $4.1 million in general obligation bonds. The increases would have been 7 percent on electricity bills, and an additional 50 cents per acre charge for irrigation water.
