What: MEMORY HEALTH PRESENTATION

Info: Covenant Village of Turlock is hosting brain health expert Dr. Len Lecci with a presentation “Maximizing Your Memory Health.” Participants will learn how to be proactive in preserving memory and healthy brain function. Riverbank

What: TEEN CRAFTS AND GAMES

When: Wednesday, 3:30 p.m.

Where: Riverbank branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 3442 Santa Fe St.

Info: Teens will have the opportunity to use the library’s button maker to make one-inch buttons using personal pictures, magazine images or original artwork. Video game enthusiasts can compete in interactive games on the library’s Wii console. Younger children are welcome to participate with parental supervision. Salida

What: FAMILY DINNER AND MOVIE NIGHT

When: Tuesday, 6 p.m.

Where: Salida branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 4835 Sisk Road

Info: Families are invited to bring a picnic dinner to the library’s showing of “Muppets Most Wanted.” Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket and children are welcome to attend in pajamas. Sonora

What: CENTRAL SIERRA AUDUBON SOCIETY MEETING

When: Wednesday, 7 p.m.

Where: Tuloumne County Library, Community Room, 480 Greenley Road

Info: The Central Sierra Audubon Society meeting will feature Lowell Young, who will give a presentation about the plight of the tri-colored blackbird. After the program, refreshments will be served and products and publications on a wide range of birding topics will be available. For more information, call (209) 532-1106.

YESTERYEARS

75 YEARS AGO: As part of the second annual Stanislaus County March of Dimes campaign, the Stanislaus County Committee for Infantile Paralysis approved its first appropriation for aiding a victim of the disease. As part of the effort, $150 was to be used to purchase an artificial foot for a Modesto man in his 20s whose foot had been amputated above the ankle due to contracting the disease at 18 months of life, compounded by complications later in life.
