Christian Public Servants offering scholarships
Christian Public Servants is accepting applications for the several $750 scholarships it awards annually in memory of John L. Hollis, a former Modesto City Schools trustee. The scholarships go to qualifying students who plan to have a career in public service.
Hollis was a graduate of Modesto Junior College and California State University, Stanislaus, and a founding member of Christian Public Servants.
Recipients of the John L. Hollis Scholarships must be seniors in high school, recent high school graduates or undergraduate college students with a declared intention of preparing for a career in public service, such as teaching, law enforcement, fire safety, nursing, public administration and political science.
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic achievement – a GPA of at least 3.0 is required – participation in church and/or other Christian ministries, plus community service.
