Ceres firefighters rescue woman from river bottom
Firefighters used a rope and pulley system to rescue a woman from a river bottom Tuesday evening.
According to Acting Fire Chief Bryan Nicholes, firefighters were called to the scene benind the 1300 block of River Road at 6:20 p.m. A 58-year-old woman who was confined to a wheelchair needed medical attention and could not make her way to get help.
Firefighters set up a rope and pulley system, put the woman in a rescue basket and pulled her up a roughly 300-foot cliff.
The woman was lifted safely and placed into an ambulance, which took her to an area hospital for treatment.
