Info: An H&R Block representative will walk through what the Affordable Care Act may mean for you. The representative will answer questions such as: Who pays a penalty? Do I qualify for a tax credit? Can I get an exemption? And some taxpayers may be required to have a new tax form. You’ll have the opportunity to find out who and what you need to know for your situation. What: HOUSING LEGAL ISSUES WORKSHOP

Where: Salida branch of the Stanislaus County Library , 4835 Sisk Road
Info: Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, a nonprofit, community-based, social justice organization serving the Asian and Pacific Islander communities of the greater Bay Area, is holding a free legal workshop for all Stanislaus County residents who have any housing-related legal issues. Participants can get questions answered about the foreclosure process and their rights as homeowners and tenants. Appointments can be made for one-on-one legal counseling after the workshop. 40 YEARS AGO: In a desperate attempt to avert catastrophe, the city of Ceres had to use 14 acres of land illegally to catch and contain spillover from its sewage plant. City engineer Larry Lew suggested to the City Council that a building moratorium may be needed to give the city more time to upgrade its facilities.
