What: SENIOR CONTINUED LEARNING CLASSES ON-SITE REGISTRATION

Where: Modesto Junior College West Campus, El Capitan Building, 2201 Blue Gum Ave.
Info: The Modesto Institute of Continued Learning is offering many classes for seniors, including travel, local history, exercise, U.S. history, birding, Spanish, French, gardening, bridge and book club, with presentations by guest speakers. What: LATINO COMMUNITY ROUNDTABLE MEETING
When: Thursday, noon to 1:30 p.m.
Where: Red Event Community Center, 921 Eighth St.
Info: The Latino Community Roundtable monthly meeting will feature guest speaker Judge Rubén Villalobos. The group also will remember lifetime LCR member and former City Councilman Dave Geer with a celebration of life. A Mexican luncheon buffet will be available for $12, reservations required. What: RIVER CLEANUP
When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon
Where: Tuolumne River, Beard Brook Park to the Ninth Street Bridge
Info: Operation 9-2-99, a monthly volunteer effort to clean up the Tuolumne River, is in need of volunteers to remove garbage and debris from the north bank of the Tuolumne River. Volunteers should bring gloves and drinking water and wear sturdy shoes. All other cleanup supplies will be provided. A liability form must be signed, and volunteers under 18 need a parent signature. Escalon
What: ACCORDION MUSIC AND SOCIAL
When: Wednesday, 7 p.m.
Where: Escalon Community Center, 1055 Escalon Ave.

Keyes
What: ‘FROZEN’ PARTY
When: Wednesday, 1 p.m.
Where: Keyes branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 4420 Maud Ave.
Info: Children will have the opportunity to make snowflake wands; paint a picture of Olaf, the snowman from Disney’s animated hit movie “Frozen”; play a snowball toss game; and test their “Frozen” knowledge with a quiz. Snacks will be served. Participants may come in costume, but they are not required. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Keyes Library. 25 YEARS AGO: In a Central California Conference basketball game, Merced High School defeated Beyer High School, 74-66. The Bears were led by Kareem Anderson, 28 points, and Travis Richard, 14 points, to expand their early lead of 20-8 and improve to 12-6 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the Patriots fell to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
