At the Five Points intersection at the entrance to downtown Modesto, a fire hydrant was sheared off by semi truck as it turned the corner, sending a 50-foot-high gusher into the air and flooding the nearby street by the Bank of Agriculture & Commerce late Monday morning. City workers responded and turned off the water flow. There were no reports of injury.
