Stanislaus County’s first responders – police, fire, sheriff, FBI, CHP, EMT and other emergency personnel – received honors and blessings on Saturday morning at the 12th annual Blue Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Modesto. A procession from the parish hall to the church began the Mass, where the Rev. Mark Wagner celebrated the Mass and Modesto police Chief Galen Carroll, Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson and Modesto fire Chief Sean Slamon spoke. After the Mass, Wagner blessed emergency vehicles in the parking lot. The interfaith event is sponsored each year by St. Joseph’s Knights of Columbus.
