Light agenda for Stanislaus supervisors
Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors watch
Stanislaus County elected officials took the oath of office Tuesday morning to begin their respective terms. After the ceremony in the board chamber at Tenth Street Place, the Board of Supervisors chose Terry Withrow as chairman for 2015 and Dick Monteith as vice chairman. The board dealt with a light agenda, taking action as follows:
▪ Accepted the resignations of Ceres Mayor Chris Vierra and political consultant Mike Lynch from the Water Advisory Committee. The county will request applications to fill the seats.
▪ Amended an ordinance so city managers, as well as elected officials, may serve on the Stanislaus County Disaster Council.
▪ Accepted $612,500 in Homeland Security grant money from the state for efforts to prevent and respond to terrorist attacks and other disasters.
▪ Amended a $3.5 million contract with Tetra Tech BAS Inc. for design services for cleanup of the former Geer Road landfill. The contract was increased by $450,600 for additional consultant services for upgrading the groundwater extraction system and paying prevailing wages for certain work.
