OUTSTANDING WOMEN NOMINATIONS DUE FRIDAY

Nominations must be postmarked or arrive by email Friday for the 2015 Stanislaus County Commission for Women’s Outstanding Women Awards. An early news release incorrectly said the due date was Jan. 19. Categories include Women of History, Living Pioneers and Young Women (high school seniors to age 24, which includes a $500 cash scholarship). Consider nominating women who have made a meaningful contribution to the quality of life for all women and children. Nomination forms are available at all Stanislaus County Library branches, via email at sccw01@gmail.com or at www.stanislauswomen.org. Awards will be presented March 14.

KING-KENNEDY CENTER PLANS MLK LUNCHEON

The King-Kennedy Memorial Center will hold its 22nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon Jan. 16, one day after the slain civil rights leader would have turned 85. The speakers will be new Superior Court Judge Ruben Villalobos and Lincoln Ellis, chief professional officer at the Boys & Girls Club of Stanislaus County. The event also will feature drama, dance, poetry and singing performances. It will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the center, 601 S. Martin Luther King Drive, Modesto. MHENRY MANSION DOCENT TRAINING

Are you looking for a fun volunteer experience? Do you enjoy history? The McHenry Mansion is looking for new docents to lead tours through the historic home, which is open Sunday through Friday from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Docent training begins Jan. 28.
