Closures of Highway 99 at Kiernan in Salida postponed
Late-night closings of Highway 99 tied to the Kiernan interchange upgrade will be delayed a week, the California Department of Transportation said Tuesday. Availability of construction material will push anticipated closures and detours from this weekend to the nights of Jan. 16-17, and could resume the following weekend as well. The disruption is needed for crews to demolish part of the old Kiernan bridge over Highway 99, which is being replaced with a wider span accommodating an extra traffic lane in each direction. The $44 million project should be done in fall of 2016.
