Info: The Yosemite Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals invites nonprofit and business professionals in the region to its educational lunch and program. Join the AFP, Yosemite Chapter, board of directors for a roundtable discussion of “hot topics” in nonprofit development. There also will be the opportunity to present your own organization’s topic and get input from the group. Cost is $15 members, $20 nonmembers, lunch included. What: BLUE MASS

When: Saturday, 9:30 a.m.

Where: St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Road

Info: The Knights of Columbus is hosting a Blue Mass to recognize past and present first responders of Stanislaus County. The event will feature color guards representing the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, police and fire departments and the 4th degree Knights in a procession into the church. Mass will follow. Where: King-Kennedy Memorial Center, Mellis Park, 601 S. Martin Luther King Drive

Info: The West Modesto Health Screening will feature free cholesterol and blood sugar checks, blood pressure checks, flu shots, and hearing and vision screenings. It is presented by the Stanislaus Multi-Cultural Community Health Coalition and West Modesto/King-Kennedy Neighborhood Collaborative.

YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: David A. Wurm, Stanislaus County clerk-recorder, submitted a letter of resignation to the Board of Supervisors. The letter came two months after Wurm announced he would not seek re-election to the same post. He had told The Bee, at the time of his first announcement, that he had plans to start a public relations firm.
