Woman stuck by car in Turlock identified

The woman who died when she was hit by a car over the weekend was identified Monday as 55-year-old Turlock resident Kathryn Hays.

She was walking east across Lander Avenue in a crosswalk at Bernell Avenue on Friday night when she was struck by a northbound Prius.

Hays was in the crosswalk when she was hit; the impact propelled her into the air and she landed on the pavement just north of the intersection.

The driver, a 59-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
