What: HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE

When: Friday through Dec. 20

Where: Central Valley Automotive locations, McHenry Avenue

Info: Central Valley Automotive locations – Central Valley Nissan, Central Valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Central Valley Hyundai, Central Valley Infiniti and Payless Car Sales – are collecting toys for needy children. United Way will distribute the toys to two agencies, the Children’s Crisis Center and Sierra Vista Child and Family Services. Toys may be dropped off at any of the participating showrooms. What: FUNDRAISER OMELET AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST

When: Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon

Where: IAMAW, Local Lodge 1528, 713 16th St.

What: HOST FAMILIES NEEDED

Info: World Heritage Student Exchange Programs, a nonprofit, public benefit organization, is seeking local host families for high school boys and girls from Scandinavia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Thailand, China, South Korea and the former Soviet republics for the 2015-16 academic school year (or semester). Host families provide room, board and guidance for a foreign teenager living thousands of miles from home. Couples, single parents, and families with or without children living at home are all encouraged to apply. What: CANNED FOOD DRIVE AND TOY RUN

When: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Road Dog Cycle parking lot, 4600 Main St.

Info: Friends of Road Dog is holding its 10th annual canned food drive and toy run. The event will feature cookies, coffee, hot chocolate, wagon rides and pictures with Santa on his Harley for a $5 donation. Canned food and toys will benefit Denair families. YESTERYEARS

25 YEARS AGO: Tuolumne County was offered a $210,000 state grant for housing rehabilitation in Tuolumne City. The program to help low-income families find housing was supposed to be run by Central Sierra, which would be evaluating any applications that came in.
