It’s not called fall for nothing. While this time of year brings a gorgeous canopy of color to neighborhoods in Modesto, it also brings some work when the reds and golds come floating down. On Debbie Lane, off Rumble Road south of Tully Road, Steve Smith was clearing his lawn of a carpet of leaves Monday. It was a scene repeated thousands of times across town in recent days. Soon, most trees will be foliage-free until spring, but there still are a few clear, dry days before then to enjoy the show while out for a walk or bike ride.
