One dead in Highway 152 wreck near Los Banos

An accident on Highway 152 near Los Banos involving a big rig and multiple vehicles left one person dead Monday morning, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident, described as a “crossover collision”, occurred in the westbout lanes of Highway 152 east of Basalt Road.

The wreck snarled traffic in the westbound lanes for at least two miles, the CHP said.

There are no further details, including the gender of the victim, the cause of the accident or specifically the number of vehicles involved.
