A fire broke out at a central Modesto duplex early Thursday, leaving one resident displaced. According to the Modesto Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Nelson Avenue at 4:42 a.m. Crews arrived to find a duplex in flames. The single occupant of the duplex was accounted for. Firefighters contained the blaze to one unit, authorities said. Damage was estimated at $80,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
