YESTERYEARS
50 YEARS AGO: It was announced by Rep. John J. McFall, 15th District – Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties – that Modesto would be awarded a $24,000 federal grant. The grant was to be used for the purchase of a community park site adjacent to the proposed fourth city high school. The grant covered one-third of the cost to acquire a 20-acre site north of Yosemite Boulevard off Riverside Drive.
