One person killed when truck, ATV collide northwest of Modesto

One person was killed and two others seriously injured when an all-terrain vehicle collided with a pickup northwest of Modesto on Wednesday morning, authorities said. Two others suffered minor injuries.

The crash was reported at Dunn Road and Shoemake Avenue at 6:44a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Three farmworkers were riding an all-terrain vehicle that was being used for agricultural work when a Mazda pickup approached. The ATV was going roughly 15 mph, and the truck was going 55 to 60 mph, the CHP said.

The two vehicles collided. One of the farmworkers suffered fatal injuries; the others suffered serious injuries. Their identities and genders were not available.

The driver and a passenger in the Mazda, identified only as a woman and her child, suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while authorities investigated the incident.
