Three killed in Stanislaus County crashes identified
Authorities on Monday identified three people killed in Stanislaus County crashes over the weekend.
The first occurred Saturday morning in Turlock. Jared Ficarelli, 15, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding hit a truck at Rose Avenue and F Street. The crash was reported at 9:42a.m.
According to authorities, Ficarelli and a teenage passenger were headed north on Rose Street approaching F Street when the motorcycle collided with a truck headed east on F Street. The intersection is controlled by a stop sign on F Street; police investigators believe the truck stopped before proceeding into the intersection.
As of Monday, the investigation was continuing into the cause of the crash.
The second crash occurred about 10 a.m. on the Highway 99 northbound offramp at Sixth Street in downtown Modesto.
Evan White, 19, of Temecula was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when, for an unknown reason, he lost control while merging onto Sixth Street, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Don Davis.
White became separated from his motorcycle after it fell onto its left side. The motorcycle hit a tree and White struck a nearby street sign, Davis said.
He was wearing a helmet but suffered major injuries as a result of the crash.
White was taken by ambulance to a Doctors Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
The third fatality occurred early Sunday when a car left Albers Road near Oakdale and hit a tree. The driver, identified Monday by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Thomas Jones, 44, of Modesto, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries. He was declared dead at the scene of the 4:50 a.m. crash.
