Follow Modesto police on a virtual ride-along

The Modesto Police Department is giving people a glimpse into the work of its police officers with a “virtual ride-along” Friday.

From 4 p.m. to midnight, officers will be tweeting and posting all of the major calls for service and police activity on the department’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram sites.

The ride-along not only will provide an inside view of an officer’s day on patrol, but will be a platform for crime prevention tips and facts to enhance the quality of life in your neighborhood.

Building community partnerships is an ongoing goal of the Modesto Police Department. Social media has helped improve those partnerships by providing an outlet for crime information, education and awareness.
