What: DICKENS FAIRE VENDORS

Info: The McHenry Mansion Foundation is seeking craft vendors for the ninth annual Dickens Faire Victorian Christmas Market to be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 6. Vendor spaces are available on 15th Street in front of the mansion and in the park across the street, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Turlock

What: EAT BETTER, MOVE BETTER PROGRAM

When: Tuesday

Where: Salvation Army Center, 893 Lander Ave.

Info: The Healthy Aging Association, Area Agency on Aging and Howard Training Center are presenting the Eat Better, Move Better Program. Any senior 60 years or older who is eligible for Congregate Meals is welcome to attend the program. The program is a free, short, interactive nutrition and physical activity session offered once a week for four weeks. Participants will earn rewards, win weekly prizes and qualify for a grand prize at the end of the four weeks. For more information, call (209) 523-2800.


Oakdale

What: WOMEN’S CLUB MEETING

When: Tuesday, noon

Where: Oakdale Golf and Country Club, 243 N. Stearns Road

Info: The Oakdale Women’s Club is holding a meeting featuring guest speaker Paul Lewis who will discuss the details about Fish Park Veterans Day. Lunch menu will include salad, roasted turkey with dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy and green beans. Dessert will be pumpkin pie.


Keyes

What: HOGWARTS EVENT

When: Thursday, 3 to 5 p.m.

Where: Keyes branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 4420 Maud Ave.

Info: Muggles and wizards alike are invited to celebrate Halloween at Hogwarts. Individuals of all ages will be able to make crafts, pose for pictures, participate in potion-making classes and sample sweet treats. Individuals are welcome to come in costume, however costumes are not required. For more information, call the Keyes Library at (209) 664-8006.

YESTERYEARS

40 YEARS AGO: The city of Ceres hired a new city manager to replace outgoing manager Gene Robirds. While the city searched for a new manager, City Engineer Larry Lew was acting city administrator. The then-new manager was Sherman T. Stenberg, 41, of National City, population 50,000. He was hired on as the first city manager with the salary of $20,000 a year.
