Job seekers lined up early for a chance to land a job with the Hilmar Cheese Co., which is holding a hiring event in Turlock on Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The company wouldn’t say how many openings it has, but it promised to make provisional job offers Tuesday to those who passed a battery of tests and did well on interviews.

Hilmar Cheese is hiring full-time employees for both its main facility in Hilmar and the new dry-milk powder plant being built in west Turlock. Those entry-level production jobs pay $14.25 per hour.

Company officials have said they intended to talk to everyone who showed up, including those who could not make it until early evening.

If selected, applicants will continue on to a hair-follicle drug screening, fitness test and physical.
