What: LEGO PLAY DAY

Where: Modesto branch of the Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St.
Info: Children ages 4-18 will have the opportunity to build LEGO displays for the library. LEGO play helps children develop fine motor skills. Children under 4 are welcome, but must have direct adult supervision. For more information, call the Modesto Library at (209) 558-7810.

Info: The Stanislaus Union School District Education Foundation is holding a book fair to raise funds and purchase books for the district’s six school libraries. There will be drawings for Barnes & Noble gift certificates, a performance by the Prescott Junior High School Choir, dramatic presentations, a poetry slam exhibition and student-made bookmarks will be provided at the point of sale. Also on tap will be activities for children and a VIP reader will provide a story time opportunity for children every 15 minutes. What: COMMUNITY FLU CLINIC
When: Sunday, 8 to 11 a.m.
Where: Modesto 7th Street Flea Market, Auction Yard, 1107 South 7th St.
Info: The Stanislaus County Health Services Agency’s Public Health Services is holding a community flu vaccination clinic for anyone 6 months or older. Suggested cost is $27 adults, $10 children, but no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Additional clinics will be held through November. YESTERYEARS
25 YEARS AGO: Stanislaus County and labor union Local 535 of the Service Employees International Union signed and agreed to a two-year contract. The agreement called for an 8 percent salary increase over the two-year contract. Other components included: additional vacation accrual for long-term employees and salary equity adjustments for some classifications.
